Genealogy workers meet weekly to assist persons interested in family research. Volunteers are needed to help with phone calls and e-mails, copying, scanning of newspaper obituaries and research. Check out our GENEALOGY page.
Special events such as our Christmas open house, downtown tours and special programs are times when we invite the public to share in our love of Punxsutawney history. Watch for these events and take part by attending or volunteering to help with the work of planning them.
We offer programs and classes which focus on historical eras or topics. We are in the second year of a four-year program, "Early Settlers" highlighting the early peoples who settled our region. Bring your children in or come yourself to help with the logistics of crafts or transportation.
Share your family history with us. We are always happy to add to our collection of printed family histories. We also welcome written records or oral histories. If you like to talk with people, you could help us collect the oral histories of Punxsy's older residents.
Financial support is always welcome. Many people have been generous in their contributions. The Capital Campaigns in support of our acquisition and renovation of the Lattimer House at 400 West Mahoning Street have concluded but as anyone responsible for the care of older homes knows, ongoing maintenance is a large part of the budget. Activities and programs are also needful of support. We'd be thankful for your help.
Thinkers, planners and doers are needed to continue our operations in a manner consistent with our mission. We need help with grant applications, building cleaning and renovation, landscaping, exhibit preparation, publicity and all those other volunteer activities described above.
